Community-Based Action to Recover Stolen Instruments
In January 1998, Jason Hall's sixth-floor apartment was broken into and a valuable bass clarinet, the tool of his trade, was removed. Searching for his own instrument in local Pawnshops, he became suspicious about a pair of expensive clarinets.
A few phone calls to the Vancouver Police and several music stores confirmed that these instruments were stolen property. They have now been returned to their rightful owner. The combination of the skills of the Vancouver Police Department's Anti-fencing Unit with a musician's professional knowledge is what made this possible.
Stolen Dreams is an organized, integrated community effort to identify and retrieve stolen instruments.
It is not our intention to claim that the establishments listed below are fencing stolen goods. We are simply trying to point out to interested parties that these enterprises can sometimes end up with stolen property without their knowledge.
If you have any additional information that you would like to pass along, kindly email either David P. Owen or Jason Hall.
